JUNIOR GOLF
At Brynhill Golf Club, we are proud of our strong association with junior members and our history of success in cultivating young talent. Many of our past junior members have gone on to work in the golf industry or even pursue professional careers in the sport.
In 2022, we launched a junior golf program that invited local schools to participate in a "Try Golf" coaching program, which was met with great success. The program has continued in subsequent years, and we are excited to have Tom Wilcox, a past junior member and experienced golfer, serving as our new junior organiser. Tom alongside Joel Hutton will be available to help run sessions and integrate our junior members into the Brynhill Golf Club community.

Super Six Benefits Of Junior Golf
Golf is a game the whole family can enjoy together
You can compete against, and enjoy playing with, your sisters/brothers/mum/dad and your grandparents. It's a great game for the whole family to enjoy together, and is perhaps the most truly cross-generational game there is!
Exercise, by having FUN
As young children and teachers start to explore golf in school this is not only great fun but promotes excellent early movement skills and exercise. Being out on the course in the fresh air will later help to create endurance (did you know that 18 holes of golf can take 10,000+ steps? While the fast-energy exercise in team games, and the absorbing task at hand, is great for kids’ wellbeing.
Learning valuable life skills
We believe that golf offers young people the learning of life skills – such as resilience, respect and focus, promoting confidence and independence – that are also transferable and highly valuable in their wider lives, for example in times of school lessons, exams, home life and even peer group pressure. ‘The Square of Concentration’ - focus and self-reflection points as important to our work in schools as learning how to keep score or learning how to putt!
Making friends
Golf is great for making friends. Did you know that G.O.L.F. can stand for ‘Great Opportunities for Lifelong Friends’? Golf is also fantastic for early social interaction, with peers and also older age groups. Golfing kids can thrive as a group and when in their teens can also start to assess the adult world through playing with club members of all ages. At golf clubs that reflect the surrounding community, young people are meeting with new members of this community sometimes for the first time.
A surprisingly inclusive game
Young people may first find golf through family leisure activities like Adventure Golf, Top Golf, putting in parks and video games. Golf is a great game for the whole family and no matter what your ability can be played on a level playing field due to handicap and different tee boxes.

This is where we have set dates where a junior golfer can come along and join the group and learn the basic skills of golf, score keeping, course etiquette and basic rules. Its a fun way of introducing them to golf and hopefully making friends at the same time.

Juniors can join the Junior Golf programme from the age of 8. There are Junior group lessons / sessions on offer at a small cost and these dates will be posted on the website.
-
For the introduction to golf you will not need any golf clubs or balls etc. We will have some clubs that you can use. We do recommend some trainers with a good grip or if you do have golf shoes then these would be ideal as they provide the optimum grip and are also waterproof.

To attend the “Junior golf sessions” there will be a small cost and this will be updated here prior to the sessions starting
